Academic Journey: Exploring the Path
Professor Jaya Prakash Pradhan holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of Hyderabad, and both an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His academic journey has led him to several prestigious institutions in India, where he has held teaching and research positions. These include the Central University of Karnataka (Gulbarga), Sardar Patel Institute of Economic & Social Research (Ahmedabad), Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (New Delhi), and the Gujarat Institute of Development Research (Ahmedabad). Additionally, he has served as a consultant for the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (New Delhi).
Currently, Professor Pradhan’s research focuses on Indian Multinationals, social economics and regional development in India. His work explores the socio-economic challenges and opportunities across different regions of the country. Over the years, he has contributed to the academic field through several influential books, such as Manufacturing Exports from Indian States: Determinants and Policy Imperatives (2016), The Rise of Indian Multinationals: Perspectives on Indian Outward Foreign Direct Investment (2010), and Growth and Development in India: Regional Dimensions (2018). He has also published over 43 research articles, 12 book chapters, and 10 working papers, covering topics related to economics, industrialization, and development.
In terms of research interests, Professor Pradhan is particularly focused on social economics, regional development, and internationalization process in India. His teaching interests span a variety of economics subjects, including international business, mathematical economics, industrial economics, microeconomics, and econometrics.
